Vilkyskiai secondary school exploring symbols in their WORKSHOP OF SIGNS

Based on the concept of a symbol/ a sign as a very important means of communication, the project was aimed at creating and understanding signs of different nature (text, emotional, body language, visual and other), which not only have some implication, but also nurture the imagination.

The main subject of the project evolved around the local history. 20 ten-graders (16 – 18-year-old students) took part in the project.

Curriculum subjects integrated into the project: the Lithuanian language, history, geography, arts, information technology and technology.

Creative activities of the project : theatre, art, photography and music.

Ten-graders participating in the project were encouraged to show interest in their region, to perceive information through physical and emotional senses and, through the use of simple measures, to create the scenography, which would also reflect the model for creating the creation environment.

 The measures and methods used:

 ·   The practice of acting techniques, improvisation, attention management and expressive reading, also, the creation of scenography for the design of an action space;  

·         An exhibition – installation on the subjects of the history of Vilkyškių region and the works of Johannes Bobrovsky was created;

·         A demo film reflecting the project process, introducing the participants, etc., was created;

·         Music for performance and filling a space during the performance was created/ selected;

·         The final outcome of the project was a 20 – 30 – minute-long performance in the creatively decorated unused part of the school building.
